Terms and Conditions of Funding

Funding assistance is subject to the following terms and conditions:

  1. The proposed works and request for funding is subject to approval by Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (the Conservation Authority) staff and review committee(s) to ensure compliance with acceptable standards, and for confirmation of funding availability/eligibility. Work that proceeds prior to funding approval does not qualify for funding assistance.
  2. The property owner is responsible for obtaining all applicable permits from the Conservation Authority and/or other agencies. Failure to obtain and comply with all applicable permits will result in non-payment of grants.
  3. The owner will be required to submit at least two cost estimates for the proposed works. The Conservation Authority reserves the right to request the submission of a minimum of three cost estimates. The amount eligible for funding assistance is based upon the lowest cost estimate, or the grant limit, whichever is less. Project costs exceeding the lowest cost estimate may not be considered as eligible for funding assistance.
  4. The property owner is responsible for hiring the necessary contractor(s) and consultant(s) where applicable and to ensure that the works are carried out in accordance with the approved plans, specifications and conditions. The Conservation Authority is not responsible for the workmanship and warranty of the project as completed by your chosen contractor(s). All contractor(s) and consultant(s) must have insurance. The Conservation Authority's insurance does not cover any contractors or consultants hired by the property owner.
  5. The property owner is responsible for all payments to all contractors and consultants (when applicable). Funding assistance from the Conservation Authority will be paid only to the property owner. The Conservation Authority will not be responsible for any payments to contractors hired by the owner.
  6. Works must be completed according to approved plans, timelines and specifications and to the satisfaction of the Conservation Authority in order to receive payment of grants.
  7. Upon completion of the works, the owner must submit a statement of expenses incurred during the construction together with copies of receipts marked "Paid in Full" and//or copies of cancelled cheques. Grant payment will not be released until all required documentation has been received by the Conservation Authority.
  8. The owner will maintain the project structures in good working order and condition, for a minimum period of five years.
  9. The Conservation Authority and their representatives shall have access to the site where any part of the work is being carried out at all reasonable times during construction and after construction for the purpose of conducting a post project inspection or research, if applicable. The owner agrees to install project signage at a mutually convenient location, if deemed appropriate by the Conservation Authority.
  10. Grant eligibility criteria and the availability of funds may change without notice.
  11. Landowner information may be shared with other funding partners for statistical, reporting and eligibility verification purposes.
  12. I/We understand that I/we are responsible for reporting any grant income to the Canada Revenue Agency.
